It Takes a Village…

Dear Friends,
It takes a community of faith in conversation with one another to make it possible for the search committee to fairly represent all of you in their work of seeking a new rector. The last Sunday they will be available for in person conversation is February 15th. While I know the weather has not been our friend with making it easy to gather, please plan on attending this session at 9:00 am on the 15th. There is also a survey online on our website. If you cannot attend in person, please take a moment and complete this survey.
On February 14th, the Sunday School staff have planned a family night of bingo in your pj’s with pizza and prizes for the bingo winners. Your only cost is to bring either dessert or an appetizer. My thanks to Elaine Williams, Marci and Spike Altman for making this possible. I know from experience that Valentine’s Day is a madhouse at a restaurant, and a day full of overpriced chocolate and flowers. Bring your family and come to a low-key night from 6-8 at the Family Life Center and have some fun.
On February 17th Grace’s own Boy Scout troop is sponsoring their annual Pancake Supper at the Family Life Center. Whether the day is Mardi Gras or Shrove Tuesday, come support our scouts from 5-7. The cost is $8 for adults and $6 for children. Children under 2 eat for free. Before our Lenten fast begins the next day on Ash Wednesday, come and celebrate.
While our chief work together is to worship so that we may serve Christ in the world, conversation and play also build ties that bind. One of my favorite expressions of this is, “It takes a village to raise a child.” It takes one to raise up a new rector and to refresh our spirits for the journey ahead.
God's peace and keeping,
Mary +
